Something started feeling off for me in my mid twenties. It was as though something was missing.
I mentioned this to my mom and she offered it may have something to do with having a child. It only took a few moments for me to sit with this to know this was not my truth.
It was also around this time DeWayne was deployed for 2-3 months and had a conversation with someone in his unit about me. He said how much I had to be around people, how busy I was all the time, and how I didn’t like being alone. What was said next really pissed me off, but also shed light onto what I needed to hear. His friend said “Wow. She must not like herself very much.”
These two conversations made pause and recognize what felt off.
What I was missing was ME.
Being busy and with people all the time became distractions. I didn’t like being alone because that meant I would have time with ALL the parts of me. Yuck!
What shifted all of this was beginning to say YES to my dreams, without apology.
I finally said yes to starting my own business as a professional organizer. I had used my internship in my masters program in Human Relations to gain experience offering workshops, setting up my website, etc. My original plan was to start it when we moved to the next duty station for DeWayne.
And then something happened at work that propelled me to commit to my dream in a way I hadn’t let myself before. It was clear that it was time for me to end that chapter and fully step into my OrganizeTogether business. The problem was DeWayne was deployed again and I couldn’t talk to him about it. I figured out without my income we would have about $100 left over each month. I was willing to sacrifice what I needed to because I was so unhappy at my job and I was being pulled to do something I was passionate about.
Serendipitously, DeWayne called that night and I told him that I was giving my month notice the next day. There wasn’t a lot he could say because he could tell how committed and strong I was in my choice.
And you know what? We NEVER felt my lack of income from my job. It was like something opened up and supported us. And that has happened over and over and over again. Every time we have said yes to a dream that stretched us emotionally, mentally and financially, it has turned out in better ways than we could have planned. From the unique homes we have purchased, to my yoga teacher training, to becoming a sailing instructor and what we are doing now with our Peaceful Heart Retreat home.
And it began with me knowing that something was not aligned (something is off, missing, not fitting.)
Then I became aware of a dream I had and found ways to bring it into my life and created the foundation with practice (using my internship to gain experience.)
I eventually committed to it fully by quitting my job when I felt pulled, even though I didn’t have all the answers.
And I’ve been met with unexpected successes. It has felt magical.
Even to this day, having a business has been my spiritual and manifesting teacher in all the forms it has taken. It has been a way for me to dive deep into those parts of me I haven’t befriended yet, and a way for me to continue honoring my dreams as I practice saying yes to me and trusting the journey.
For me it has been a business. For you, it may be something else.
Let me ask you..
If you don’t know, or have no idea how to move forward. That’s okay. Maybe you just know something is off and something needs to change.
Regardless of where you are, I have two special offerings for you.
I invite you to attend our upcoming Mindful Manifesting Retreat. Simply by attending, you are saying yes to YOU, which is a critical step in the manifesting process. Plus having a change in environment sparks transformation! Specifically you will have time to get clear about what you want and experience how to be comfortable with the unknown, allowing your journey to be full of ease and magic.
If you would like to have a free 30 minute Mindful Manifesting Session with me to explore your dream, what the next step would be for you, or to answer any of your manifesting questions, feel free to schedule time with me here.
When DeWayne and I were in the transition of moving, we didn’t know where we would end up. Instead of getting stressed out, we decided to put our energy towards getting clear about what experience we wanted and then allowed ourselves the time and space to watch how it all unfolded (and continues to unfold.)Continue Reading

I have a smile on my face as I realize we have lived in Hawaii for a year. While living here has been amazing, my smile is really coming from the journey that got us here. What I am about to share with you is an article I had written over a year ago. AtContinue Reading
